Dumai, September 27, 2021 – PT. Pro Engineering Utama successfully carried out repairs on the fire pump owned by PT. Apical Kao Chemicals located in Dumai. The company’s diesel fire pump experienced issues with power loss and emitted white smoke from the exhaust. To address these issues, PT. Pro Engineering Utama performed an overhaul on the diesel engine.
After a thorough inspection, it was found that the main cause of the problem was the use of inappropriate fuel. The recommended fuel should meet ASTM D-975 standards, with sulfur content below 1000ppm. Using non-compliant fuel can lead to various issues in diesel engine performance, including power loss and white smoke emissions.
Once the overhaul and repairs were completed, PT. Pro Engineering Utama conducted a performance test to ensure the fire pump was functioning properly. This performance test was conducted to verify that the fire pump’s performance still met the standards set by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 20 and NFPA 25.
The results of the performance test showed that the fire pump was operating optimally and ready to be used in emergency fire situations. With the completion of these repairs, PT. Apical Kao Chemicals can once again rely on their fire suppression system to protect their facilities and employees from fire risks.
